Who We Are

The Owners

Fred Eidt and Muna ar-Rushdi are "new retirees" having decided that the South Shore of Nova Scotia would be an ideal place to settle and take time to smell the roses. Endless days of leisure however, we realized would soon lose appeal, so we (aka Muna), started looking for something to keep us (aka Fred), busy in retirement. Thanks to the Internet we stumbled onto a one hundred acre (more or less) property in Lunenburg County with a well established albeit tired Christmas tree operation, including a woodlot, and the overgrown ruins of a farmstead. This became the reality we named Gryphon Hill Farms in the autumn of 2012.

The Lead Hand

Neil Crossland came with the farm, which was a stroke of good fortune for us. His years of experience managing and shearing christmas trees has been invaluable to us. He is a permanent member of our team and shares our philosophy in rejuvenating the health of the tree lot so that it is once more vibrant and sustainable.

The Supervisor

Molly.... it is with great sadness that we bade her farewell today November 20 2019. A German shepherd mix and a rescue, we adopted her in 2014 at age seven. She instantly became the ever loyal companion, and was always enthusiastic, whether exploring on the farm, hiking in the woods, or just plain lounging around like only dogs know how to do. It is an immeasurable bond, love, between a man and his dog. Molly we love you, and you will always be in our hearts.
